Proverbs 11: Riches or No Riches

We Christians used to think that being rich was against the bible, and that God wanted us to stay poor. I don’t read it so. God knows how much we love riches and most importantly how much time and energy we are ready to commit in order to get riches. So here is one of the things the bible says:

Proverbs 11:4

Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

It’s okay to be rich, but money can’t save us. There will be a day of judgement as it is written: it is given to men to die once after which comes judgement (Hebrews 9:27). Also, in Revelation 20:12 the vision of Apostle John unveils that the dead will be judged. The point is salvation from eternal death.

God wants you and me to be saved. He reveals in this verse, as well as in many others, that we ought to put our time and energy to growing in rigtheousness. And we know how to do that because we do it to seek wealth. Let’s dedicate ourselves to seeking God in prayer, studying His word, and serving His Kingdom. The righteousness of God will save us from eternal death.

PRAYER

Father God, I thank you for coming down to show us the way of salvation. Thank you for giving us Jesus. Thank you for filling us with your Spirit. Give us spiritual strength today to seek your kingdom amd your rigtheousness above all. In the precious name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteouness, and all these things will be added to you.
