The Centre Ombeni is an Orphanage located in the city of Bukavu, in DR Congo. It was founded and is managed by Mr. Ombeni Manegabe, who also grew up as an orphan. In July 2020 brother Ombeni contacted JFA founder Rev. Elizabeth Ebeka for help with rent. What she thought would be a one-time transaction turned into a divine appointment from the Lord our Father. He just grew our JFA family beyond imagination by connecting us to these 47 children. Read their story on our blog.
Serving The Children
We serve the children at the orphanage by providing for their housing and education, by ensuring that they receive proper medical care and spiritual support.
Preserve The Shelter
The compound has a small 3 bedroom-house and large frontyard and backyard that is so precious for the children. The rent is $600 a year. JFA donors are making a difference covering the rent so thatthe children will not lack shelter. We give glory to God!
Brother Ombeni runs a small trade that covers the school tuition for most of the children. However, the revenue from that trade is not reliable enough for conflicting needs. For example if tuition is due but there is no food, the food will of course take priority. When that happens, the kids aren’t able to attend school until tuition is paid. JFA is working with brother Ombeni to ensure that the children don’t have to miss class anymore.
Ensure Medical Care
Little 11-year-old Archange suffered from typhoid fever. When the doctors told them that her condition was critical and she needed to be admitted, they were not able to keep her that night because the Center didn’t have the money to pay for the admission. We would like to end this constant threat to the health of the children. Thanks to our donors support, we were able to help get Archange admitted to the hospital. She spent 2 nights there and got better. A strong girl full of life. Praise God!
Support Spiritual Growth
Rev. Ebeka empowers the children who want to with biblical teachings that bring joy for today and hope for the future. The mental strength of the children will help them stay motivated to be the best that they can be. We remind them that they are loved just as they are, and that there is a bright future ahead of them as they learn to grow into men and women of integrity and commendable character. There are gifts and talents inside each one of them that can bless them and be a blessing for their nation.
And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.― Matthew 10:42
But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.― Matthew 19:14
